Every now and again, something happens that leaves me speechless. That doesn’t happen very often. Ask my family.
But here I am – speechless.
Why, you may ask.
This past week, I was nominated by the totally awesome, wonderfully audacious Carly Findlay from Tune into Radio Carly fame for a Liebster Award. Carly is an amazing blogger whom I have followed for a while now. We have become quite chatty on Facebook and I totally admire the amazing work she does on appearance advocacy and diversity inclusion. Please do go and check out her site. She is incredibly inspirational.
So what is the Liebster Award.
This is an award that appears to have no concrete origins but is said to have started in Germany, hence the name Liebster which loosely means Dearest or Nicest or Kindest or Sweetest (and a few other adjectives to boot including boyfriend!).
It is meant to take the form of a chain letter in that it is continuously passed on. Frankly, I have never liked the connotation of a chain letter, so I am changing it to a Pay-It-Forward thing where bloggers recognise other bloggers for the awesome work they do. Which is why it meant so much that Carly gave it to me. Yep, I’m speechless.
It should be said that you don’t have to accept the award. If you don’t want to pay it forward, you don’t have to, you can gracefully decline the award, it is up to you. But if you do accept it, the idea is that you pass on the love. And I do love to spread it around a bit.
The rules have changed a bit over the years it seems. The idea is that once you have been nominated and accepted the award (which I gratefully do Carly, thank you), you then nominate a further 3 to 5 bloggers whom you think deserve the award. You then write a post answering the questions that were asked of you, and post another set of questions for your nominees. {Making sense so far?}. They then nominate a further set of bloggers, posing their own set of questions and so the Pay-It-Forward thing goes on.
Apparently, you should also put the award on your blog – TA DA!
When nominating me, Carly asked what was my favourite season.
Without a doubt it is Spring.
Spring is such a time of renewal. After the long, cold, wet winter, spring is the time that I feel revitalised and renewed, ready to take on the world again. I love the sprouting of the new leaves and flowers, the baby animals and that smell of an awakening world. It holds with it the promise of long, warm, lazy days on the horizon, when summer comes along. Yep, there is nothing like Spring.
So {drum roll please} my nominations are:
This is an amazing blog that is my go to place when I am feeling depressed (which, as you regular readers will know, is fairly often). Michelle writes beautifully, is always upbeat and always leaves a smile on my face. She is a bit of a music whizz too and always manages to put up songs that are just right for me at the time. I do hope you will take the time to go and have a look because, seriously, she is so worth the visit.
Rachel suffers from Dysautonomia. No, I hadn’t heard about it either until I met Rachel. Her blog, though, is so much more than just a chronicle of her affliction. It is a blog full of poignant stories that will make you laugh and cry, of life and living, of rising above, and not. Most importantly it carries with it a beautiful message of hope, of never giving up and one of expansive living no matter what. I don’t suffer from Dysautonomia, but I love this blog and I know you will too.
This is a posthumous award since Lila has announced that she will no longer be blogging. I hope that in time she will come back to it as her blog is, in a word, breathtaking. She is the living embodiment of creativity and beauty. She has these awesome little films that I just adore, not to mention her home grown food and recipes. Awesome I tell you. Blogging has, as it often can, taken more than it has returned of late, but I just wanted to let her know that what she did was so very much appreciated. Don’t worry Little Wolff, you don’t have to accept the award, I just wanted to give it to you anyway. I hope you don’t mind.
This is a blog that I follow, though she won’t know that I follow it. It is a blog about being an adult women with Aspergers. So little information is out there for women on the spectrum and it is so refreshing to see an ‘inside’ perspective. As you know Master J has high functioning autism so I read this blog with interest as it is a veritable font of information. Even if you don’t have autism, or know someone who is, please do take a look. It is warm and informative all at the same time.
So, here are my questions for my nominees:
What is your earliest memory?
What is your favourite colour and why?
What one word describes you and why?
What is your favourite place to be?
If you could have dinner with anyone in the world, who would it be and why?
Some varied questions there, but it is all about trying to get to know you a little better.
So there you have it. I will now accept my award, take a bow and say adieu.
Until next time,
Sarah I love your new webpage! Gorgeous, easy and slick. I’m so chuffed for you!
Hi Rachel, glad you like it.
How wonderful! Liebster award well deserved, Sarah! 🙂
Some very well-earned nominees there Sarah. I’ll be sure to check out the blogs I don’t regularly read.
